What Is a Points Schedule in BMS?
Copied to clipboard ✓
The complete list of every input and output for every piece of equipment in the BMS project.
For every equipment:
What do we READ from it? (Inputs)
Temperature, pressure, humidity, status, fault — AI or DI
What do we COMMAND to it? (Outputs)
Start, stop, open, close, speed, position — DO or AO
AHU-01 example:
AI: Supply air temperature, Return air temperature, Humidity, CO2, Filter DP
DI: Fan run status, Fan fault, Fire alarm signal
AO: CHW valve position (0–100%), Heating valve (0–100%), Fresh air damper (0–100%)
DO: Fan start/stop, Return fan start/stop
Total: ~12 points per AHU
Multiply across all equipment in the building → total BMS point count.
Total points determine number of controllers → total system cost.
